Area 12AA Post Hole Interpretation

Discussion
Wherever a relationship was established, the majority of the post holes
in area 12AA were cut through the surrounding features (the exception was
post hole 012AA00019 in master
012AA07178 which was cut by ditch 012AA00226).
Despite this, and the detailed search of the area during excavation, it
is uncertain whether all the post holes were recovered due to their ephemeral
nature. No single pattern or phase can be established and it is likely
the plan of the post holes represents several phases of activity, some
probably associated with the enclosure ditches in the area. Three potential
structures were recovered; 012AA07077
to the north, 012AA07076 to the south
and a small structure straddling areas 12AA and 12AB and issued with 12AB
contexts (012AB07078). Structure 012AA07076
may have had an enclosing fence. The rest of the post holes are probably
the remnants of fence lines.
